Fundraising – Beach balls

Hello all! This is what Olivia and I came up with.

For those who weren't there during the meeting, the idea of this is to get people to ‘donate’ balls to the kids by donating money. Students are encouraged to write their well wishes on the balls as well.

Price of ball:
- $3-4 dollars, for the one in the picture below.
- Size is about 40cm in diameter

Other cost:
- Markers – about $3 for paint markers (which are more lasting), $1 for normal black permanent markers

Donations:
- Any amount
- Minimum of $1.50 to sign on the ball

We intend to test the response to this idea using 5 balls first (test period of 3 days). If the response is good we'll buy more balls to a total of 25, to signify the 25 of us going on the trip. Estimated profit per ball is $45.

Manpower needed:
- Booth under LT1 (in-charge of collecting money and facilitating the process of getting signatures) - 2 people
- Mobile (carrying a tin can and the ball with markers to get support from people around the canteen and study areas) – 2 pairs at a time

Donations will be collected during various breaks and lunches. So all, please email me (cwenshan@gmail.com) the time of your breaks and lunches from next Monday to next Wednesday (14th to 16th May) by Friday night please. I'll allocate the timeslots.

Thanks! (:

What's this about?

This June, 23 students accompanied by 2 teachers will embark on a service learning trip to Kampong Chan, in the province of Prey Veng, Cambodia. There, they will put together their efforts to help paint two classroom blocks, furnish a library, interact and teach the children and perhaps assist in the construction of wells for the community.

Anything to say?
